So Much For Advertise Advertise Advertise (another DVD thread)
by ctrwtf inif the ultimate goal is to reach as many people as possible with the kingdom message, why does the society find it necessary to block any public access to the new dvd?.
could it be because the public will see how vacuous their teachings are?
producing this propaganda is a new low even for them.

Well, it's better that people don't get life if they have to get it from copyright violation.... right?

Loyalty to Org Over Everything Else Part 2
by startingover13 ina few months ago i posted about the dilemna i was facing with my girlfriend and getting reinstated.
a little under a year ago, both of us were disfellowshipped for sexual immorality.
while it was difficult, we promised to stick together through it, work our way toward marraige, and eventually return.

Even if she let you "come back," you will still have to deal with:
"The organization, the elders, the WT, the AW" will always be telling you what to think, what not to do, what to do, how to do it, how to feel, how to breathe.... The Borg creates a terrible extra burden on any marriage. Guilt is a prime ingredient in any WT recipe.
I have seen the grandmother of an abused child fight for the Society one day, yell at the Society the next, go back the day after, and smile and breathe and then shun her sons because... now she gets to 'be a pioneer' again. Quite sad, but quite true. My point is that the Society has an uneasy, uncanny power over people, and they don't even show natural affection any more...
It's better you start over younger, than go thru all kinds of MORE misery, and have to start over older. Number one, find out who you are. Love yourself, find things you really really enjoy doing. Move, get a different job that you can get to know different people at. Get a different perspective. For as much as people think that there is "only one person" that is your ideal match, that just could not be true! If your ideal match is in the same town you were born in, and mine too, etc, etc.... Well, what would be the odds that it is simply looking for a person, getting to know a person, then coming to appreciate and love them? There are many other great people, allow yourself the chance to live. :-)
Hang in there.... life changes one step at a time.

You don't seem to be as happy anymore!?
by stuckinarut2 ini have been told by some in the cong that i don't seem to be as happy anymore..."what's wrong?
" they ask..... i feel like screaming out "i'm not happy because i'm going insane living a sham fake life stuck in the org pretending to be a good ms and witness!".
i really do feel it is taking a toll on me...and even the damn bros and sis are now seeing it!.

Dear StuckinaRut....
I feel so sorry for you.. It is hard to live a lie. I think Data's suggestion of 'gently' introducing a reason for sadness, then not going so much, 'for health reasons' is a possible idea.
Do you "have need to travel" (lol) in another job? Get other friends? Start building a network of real life support for 'after the bomb hits.'
Enjoy the new, free life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I decided to no longer turn in time...
by SG098 inbeing my 1st post i figured i should relate a personal experience.
a few months ago i decided to stop reporting time.
i'm mentally out of this cult now but still trapped because of family.

Congrats SG098! Good for you! Good job on the recording, and also handling the barrage of "direction from mother" via the elders....
I think recordings like this one helps people to see how world wide the propaganda techniques actually are. It is just not in "your congregation." They all say the same things... but for ME, alive a lot longer than you, I don't remember elders talking in the "mother" terms, or "we don't want to disappoint/ go against Christ's brothers" type of comments. This is all pretty recent, it seems to have been stepped up in the last ten/ fifteen years? or so...
The magic questions/ stataements that seem to always come up as of late... "Do you believe this is God's organization?" or "Have you been online reading something?" "This doesn't sound like something you would think of yourself" They don't believe people can actually have a brain or a conscience of their own.
When I was still "in", I auxillary pioneered, but asked my name to not be announced. I did not want people 'congratulating' me for signing a paper. I always thought, "why do I have to sign up to go out door to door for so many hours?" Well, if you auxillary pioneer during the CO's visit, you get to go to the first half of the pioneer meeting....
Titles, announcements, 'privileges', can motivate people to do many things that they wouldn't otherwise, but should, if they are really interested in the people. (Like you, you should not have to 'write your time down' to prove your love for people... Many go in service, but are they really there to help people? or write time down so that they can 'make their hours' or show how loyal they are? If we look at the Bible, none of the people there had to write their time down to "encourage the congregation" or "the world wide work"... I like your "don't let your left hand know what the right hand is doing")
Hang in there, I hope that your wife one day awakens, know that you are doing what is right. cha ching!

True Stories from the Tower - Part 1 "From Anointed to Pedophile to Bethelite"
by BluePill2 inbefore i dive into the actual write-up of this experience, let me put some things straight.. i have thought long and hard if i should write more about my experiences during the 10+ years at different branches.
during these years i worked from financial department, service department, home office and different it assignments.
as you can imagine one sees and hears and reads a lot of stuff going through different stations in different countries.

BluePill2..... I have always wondered... What IF the WT paid people off? What IF the WT was like any other corporation, and used it's big corporate powers, money and lawyers to underhandedly "delete" the opposition thru powers at their disposal? (disfellowshipping, corrupt police, losing jobs, losing families, being mentally tortured) It would be scary to live in a different country (I am in the U.S.) and face the real possiblity of 'ending up in a ditch face down.' Not to say that it couldn't, or hasn't, happened here.....
Getting information to the public, or the congregations, releasing it to those that can expose them, do their investigative stories seems as tho it might be the beginning of the crack in the ice...
My husband was talking to someone we knew in the past, who has stepped down because of the sad way he has seen people treated in the Borg. He knew nothing of the Candace Conti case. I doubt most JWs do either. This old friend was willing to talk w/my husband even when he found out he was DF'd for 'speaking abusively of the glorious ones' because he respected him testifying in a pedophile trial, coming forward with the truth, trying to do what is right. These kinds of people may be affected by information. Right now, they are led to believe "It's just my congregation." "Jehovah will straighten them out"
Perhaps when the immensity and severity of the problem is seen, that the organization is involved, people with a conscience will have the strength to leave.
Will people do what is right because it is right? or do what is wrong, simply because they are told to do what is "illogical from a human standpoint?"

ONE REASON
by snare&racket inout of interest, and to formulate a cordial chat, would you give your top one reason for your belief or non belief?.
my foremost 'one reason' for non belief is:.
the historical evidence that provides an explination and timeline for how the modern religious doctrine's and dogma developed over time.. .

I believe in a "Creator" / "Inventor" of some kind... not that I believe he exists now, I don't know.
My reason? DNA.... I do not see such technically touchy things coming about by fumbling or accident.. DNA is just the beginning... Let's say "eyeball" or "feather" "heart" "Photosynthesis" "enjoyment of sex" .... So diverse, so complicated.
The need? hey, we were quite able to live as 'accidental one celled whatevers' in the ocean... Why evolve? oh, did we know we had to, to survive? hmmm, did we live long enough to evolve? Just getting one cell to exist, and then to 'divide' is quite a mathematical enigma in itself. The universe is diverse, and organized and wonderful.
